Flying High with God
It had been almost 18 years since I last flew on an airplane, and that was for a vacation with my wife and two young boys. I didn't realize it had been so long. My employer was sending me to the east coast on a business trip. I didn't look forward to it. It was for training, which meant concentration and hard work.

Beliefs

Brief statement of beliefs

- That there is one true and living God; Creator of all and Father of all. (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 23:9; Romans 8:14-15, 8:15; Ephesians 4:6)

- His son is Jesus Christ who was conceived by a virgin, lived for 33 years on earth. At 30 years of age Jesus began teaching, preaching, and working miracles, then after 3 years of ministry he was crucified, buried, and rose again the third day, spent time in his resurrection form teaching and instructing the disciples, ascended to sit on the right hand of God. The Lord Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation. (John 1:1-4, 10-14; Acts 7:55-56; John 14:6)

- Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to continue his ministry in the lives of believers. (Acts 1:8; John 16:7-14)

- Man was created by God in his own image, male and female, as free moral agents. (Genesis 1:26-28)

- Salvation is by grace through faith apart from any other human act. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

- Baptism is carried out in obedience to the command of Christ as a symbol of the finished work of Christ on our behalf, the death to our old life, and the believer's new life. It is by total immersion in water. (Matthew 28:19-20)

- The Lord's Supper is an act of remembrance of the sacrifice of Christ. (Luke 22:19-20; I Corinthians 11:23-29)

- Once a person has obtained salvation, they are an eternal child of God (John 10:27-30)

- At a time of God's choosing, Christ will return and rapture the church, followed by a period of seven years of tribulation, culminating in the one thousand year reign of Christ on a refurbished earth, then eternity.(I Thessalonians 4:16-17, Daniel 9:27, Revelation 20:4-6)

- Those who have chosen salvation in this life will spend eternity in a real heaven (John 14:1-6)

- Those who refuse God's offer of free salvation in this life will be judged and go into a real hell for an eternity. (Revelation 20:10-15)

- The Bible is God's Holy word; inerrant, infallible, and eternal. (2 Timothy 3:15-17)

- The New Testament Church is an autonomous local assembly of believers. It's scriptural offices are Pastors (Elders) and Deacons (I Corinthians 1:2; Ephesians 1:22, 5:23-24; I Timothy 3:1-14)
