Flying High with God |
|
It had been almost 18 years since I last flew on an airplane, and that was for a vacation with my wife and two young boys. I didn't realize it had been so long. My employer was sending me to the east coast on a business trip. I didn't look forward to it. It was for training, which meant concentration and hard work.

Building Christ's
Kingdom
Through Creative Communication
The Kingdom - Where Christ rules and reigns.
The Kingdom has become an expression we often use when we do something
good. "I'm helping to build the Kingdom." Some would argue that
Christ rules and reigns everywhere. There is some validity to that,
but He gave us a responsibility to take the Gospel message to a
lost and dying world. It is His desire to rule and reign in the
hearts and minds of men.
So how can we help build Christ's Kingdom? The obvious answer is
obedience. But obedience to what? To the Law of Moses? No that is
legalism. It is obedience to the commands of Christ. Jesus said,"Take
My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in
heart, and you will find rest for your souls." - Matthew 11:29
(NKJV) Do we really believe that? Some of the primary commands of Christ
are found in what we call the great commission. Jesus said,"Go
therefore and make disciples of all the nations" - Matthew 28:19
(NKJV)
What is a disciple? Disciple means "learner"
or "follower." Leading someone to a saving
knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ is only the first step. They
must truly follow Him. To do that they must learn about Him. Jesus
said, "Deny yourself, take up your cross and follow
me." We are to die to oneself. We are to set aside our worldly
ambitions and learn about Jesus, the God-Man. Are you willing to
do that? If so, then you can help build the Kingdom of Christ! Please

section.
Sadly many today want their church like fastfood, but a steady
diet of sermonettes will only produce Christianettes. That is not
the way to turn the world upside down. If you notice the picture
on the right, it is of a village or "city"
built on the side of cliff. The Anasazi or Ancient Puebloans of
Mesa Verde built it almost a thousand years ago. What was their
purpose - survival. Men will do a lot to hang on to life as they
know it, even if it is hard and difficult. Christ offers men a new
life. One that will last for an eternity. It is a life of freedom
from sin and dealth and hell. It is the opportunity to spend eternity
with a God that loves us more than we could ever love anyone else.
Fighting the Good Fight
Near the end of the Apostle Paul's life he wrote, "I
have fought the good fight" - 2 Timothy 4:7 (NKJV). The question
is will we be able to say or do the same? How can we fight the good
fight? Some might answer quickly, "preach the
Gospel both in season and out of season" - 2 Timothy 4:2
(NKJV). But, maybe there is more to it. God has given a variety
of gifts to a myriad of different people. One of the keys is "different."
People are different and they bring different thoughts, ideas, and
perspectives to the table. Our varied backgrounds, personalities,
spheres of influence and seasons of life make each of us uniquely
qualified in some way to fight the good fight.
Someone might accuse me of having a particular ax to grind - and I would have to plead guilty. Mine is that salvation is by grace, through faith, in Christ alone - apart from works. This most likely goes back to my being raised in a religious "works - righteousness" system that did not teach that truth. Certainly Jesus was a part of that system. But, that was the problem, He was only a part - the rest depended upon my "righteous" living. Which was a definite recipe for failure. I was on the broad road to destruction and all the while I believed I was on my way to heaven. That is the plight of countless millions today.
To fight the good fight we need to get the truth of the Gospel out to those that haven't heard. However, even Paul noted that some people planted, others watered and still others harvested. That being the case, where do you fit in? Are you planting? Are you watering? Are you harvesting? We might be called to do all three of those things at different times. Even if you are a pacifist, you need to be involved in fighting the good fight. Please check out our Services section.
